Create Your Account and Campaign

Signing up, creating a campaign workspace, and inviting your team.

Everything in cicada.run lives inside a campaign. A campaign is your workspace: its own contacts, turfs, lists, tags, and billing, shared with the people you invite.

  1. Go to cicada.run and choose to sign up.

  2. Create your account.

  3. You'll land on your campaigns page. It's empty until you create your first campaign.

Create a campaign

Choose New Campaign, then fill in:

  • Name. What you'll recognize it by. Usually the candidate's name and the office, like "Jane Doe for City Council".

  • End date. Your election date.

  • Team members. Enter the email address of anyone who should have access. They stay pending until they accept.

Choose Create Campaign and you'll go straight into the workspace.

Getting around

The navigation down the side of a campaign has five places:

  • Find. Search and filter the contacts already in your campaign.

  • Turfs. Draw areas on the map and pull contacts from them.

  • Lists. The lists you hand to callers and canvassers.

  • Tags. Labels you put on contacts and turfs.

  • Browse. The full contact table, for sorting, filtering, and bulk actions.

On a phone, Turfs is hidden. Drawing turf needs a desktop or laptop.

Adding people later

You can add or remove team members any time from the campaign's edit screen. Invitations go out by email, and a member stays listed as pending until they accept.

Running more than one race

Create a separate campaign for each race. Contacts, lists, and credits do not cross between campaigns.
