Track a Bill and Set Your Position

Star bills to keep your own list, and use the thumbs to record where you stand.

Two controls on the bill page do different jobs. It's worth knowing which is which.

The star: track a bill

Tap the star to start tracking a bill. Tracked bills are saved to your own list, so you can find them again without searching.

Tap the star again to stop tracking.

Email updates on tracked bills aren't available yet. We're building them. For now, tracking is a way to keep your own list of bills to watch β€” you'll need to check back for changes yourself.

The thumbs: record where you stand

Below the star you'll find the preference controls:

  • Thumbs up β€” you support the bill.
  • Thumbs down β€” you oppose it.
  • Thumbs up/down together β€” you're undecided.

Marking support or opposition helps us recommend similar bills to you. Marking yourself undecided does not feed into recommendations β€” it's just a way to flag something you want to come back to.

Star or thumbs?

They're independent, and they answer different questions:

  • Star = "keep this on my list."
  • Thumbs = "here's what I think about it."

You can do either, both, or neither. Some features on the bill page need a position selected before they'll work, so if something seems unavailable, check whether you've set one.
