How they voted

On a bill page, your officials are highlighted in different colors based on how they most recently voted on that bill. A quick glance tells you where each of them landed without digging through roll calls.

Bear in mind that a bill can come up for several votes as it moves through the process. The color reflects the most recent one.

Get help writing

Tap Email Your Representative on a bill page and we'll draft a message for you. It uses the name from your profile and the position you've set on the bill, so the draft reflects what you actually think rather than a generic form letter.

Nothing sends automatically. The draft is yours to read, rewrite, and decide on. If it doesn't sound like you, change it — a message in your own words carries more weight than one that reads like a template.

A few things worth knowing

• Say which bill you're writing about by number. Offices sort mail by bill.

• Mention that you live in the district. Constituent mail gets weighted differently.

• Short is fine. A few clear sentences beat a long argument.
