Share Your Poll

A poll only works if people find it. From the poll page, choose Share.

The link

The dialog shows the answering link for this poll and a Copy Link button. It looks like this:

https://app.cicada.buzz/polls/POLL_ID/answer

Anyone with the link can answer. There's no account to create and no sign-in step, which is most of the reason people finish.

Paste it into an email, a text message, a newsletter, a social post, or a group chat.

The QR code

The same dialog shows a QR code for that link. It's the version that works on paper: a flyer, a noticeboard, a table tent at a meeting, a sign at the back of a room, the last slide of a presentation.

Right-click or long-press the code to save the image, then drop it into whatever you're printing. Print it large enough that someone can scan it from a few feet away.

Embed it on your own site

You can put a poll directly into any page with an iframe:

Replace POLL_ID with the id from your poll's address. The embedded poll runs on its own, without the surrounding app, so it sits inside your page rather than next to it.

The public polls directory

Public polls can appear at app.cicada.buzz/polls, a list of open polls anyone can browse and answer. It's a way to be found by people who weren't on your list.

Private polls never appear there. If you'd rather your poll stay off that page, see Create a Poll for how to set visibility.

Getting people to actually answer

• Say how long it takes. It's about two minutes. Saying so raises completion.

• Say it's anonymous. People answer more honestly once they know responses aren't tied to them.

• Ask in the room. A QR code on a screen at the end of a meeting, while everyone is still sitting down, beats an email sent the next morning.
