What is cicada.buzz?

A survey with checkboxes tells you which of your options people picked. It never tells you the thing you didn't think to ask about.

cicada.buzz asks one open-ended question instead. People answer in their own words, the poll asks a follow-up or two, and the answers come back grouped into themes — so a few hundred responses read like a summary rather than a pile of free text.

What you can do here

• Ask one real question. Write an open-ended prompt. There are no multiple-choice options to design.

• Share it anywhere. Every poll gets a link and a QR code, and can be embedded on your own site.

• Let people talk. Answers can be typed or spoken, and a follow-up question digs into what someone actually said.

• Read the pattern. Related answers collect into themes you can open and read in context.

• Slice by place and time. Draw an area on the map or pick a date range to see just those responses.

• Close the loop. Mark a theme resolved to tell people what you did about it.

Anonymous by default

Responses are separated from the people who gave them. You don't turn privacy on — it's how every poll starts. That's the reason the answers are worth reading.

Who it's for

Anyone who has to make a decision on behalf of a group and would rather hear from them first: a city council district, a school, a congregation, a neighborhood association, a union local, a company asking its own staff.
