Create Your Account and Organization

Signing up, creating an organization, and inviting the people you work with.

Polls live inside an organization. An organization is your workspace: its own polls, results, members, and plan. You'll need one before you can ask anything.

Answering a poll is different β€” that needs no account at all. This article is for the person running the poll.

  1. Go to app.cicada.buzz and create an account.

  2. You'll land on your organizations page. It's empty until you create your first one.

Create an organization

Choose New Organization, then fill in:

  • Name. What you'll recognize it by β€” usually the body doing the asking, like "Ward 3 Council Office" or "Riverside PTA".

  • Members. Add the email addresses of people who should have access. Each one gets an invitation.

Choose Create Organization and you'll land on its page, ready to create a poll.

Manage members later

From the organization page, open the … menu and choose Edit Organization. From there you can invite someone by email, remove a member, and transfer ownership of the organization to someone else.

Everyone in an organization can see its polls and results, create custom themes, and post resolutions.

The organization page

This is your home base. It lists every poll in the organization, and each card shows whether the poll is public or private and how many stories it has collected so far. A story is one person's full response.

The same menu also holds Change Organization Plan and Delete Organization. Deleting is permanent β€” it takes the polls and their responses with it.

More than one organization

You can belong to several. Your organizations page lists them all, and each keeps its polls, members, and billing separate from the others.
